Sending Operators from QML to Your Devices

Sending operators from QML to your devices is not a difficult task, but it won’t work if you miss even one small detail. Keep reading to review the steps involved in the process.

Note: These steps assume you’ve sent other operators to the device. If you are looking to implement an operator list to a new device or location, contact TELCOR Support (866-489-1207) for more detailed assistance.

How can we help?

How to:

1. Update the Operator configuration in QML.
  1. Select Operator from the Operators tab.
  2. Find and double click on the specific Operator in the summary view.
  3. Confirm the Code is correct. If the Operator uses a different code to log into the device, you will need to add an Operator/Device Parameter.
  4. Confirm the information in the Operator/Device Parameters branch is accurate and free of clerical errors.
Note: The Operator/Device Parameters branch is only required if the device requires a password, the operator will use a different code to log into the device, or the operator needs elevated permissions on the device. Reference device tips for more details about how to properly populate the Operator/Device Parameters branch.
  5. Confirm the Operator has a future certification date for the device type in the Certification Due branch. Certify the Operator if necessary.
  6. Click on the Testing Privileges tab and confirm the location of the device appears in the list. Add Testing Privileges if necessary.
2. Confirm the Operator displays in the operator list for applicable device types and locations.
  1. Select Testing Privileges View in the Lists section from the Operators tab.
  2. Build a Filter for the Operator. Hint: Select Code from the dropdown list under Field.
  3. Confirm that all devices and locations you expect this Operator to be sent to appear in the list.
  4. If necessary, add Testing Privileges to allow the Operator access to devices in other locations.
3. Connect the device(s) to trigger an updated operator download. Hint: If you make any changes to the Operator in QML, wait at least 10 minutes before you connect the device(s).
Common Oversights
  • The Operator is not certified for the device type of their certification is expired.
  • The Operator does not have Testing Privileges for all locations where they need access to the device(s).
  • The device requires a password and the Operator does not have an Operator/Device Parameter.
  • There's a clerical error in the Operator/Device Parameter.
